BLACK KNOT FUNGUS

This fungus affects plum trees, both fruit bearing and ornamentals.  It also affects cherry trees.

In addition to removing the diseased portions from the tree at the proper time, fungicide sprays may be helpful, especially in the spring.

FIREBLIGHT

Can affect apple trees, crabapple trees and pear trees.  Pruning out the diseased parts and sometimes injections of antibiotics can be helpful.
